In this moment of devotion, we will delve into 1 Samuel 16.7-12 and let us be guided by wisdom and blessing. May our hearts be open to receive the precious truths that God has in store for us in this encounter.
May this journey of prayer and reflection bring us closer to the heart of God and enable us to live blessed and meaningful lives for His glory.
Coffee with Jesus
Today we approach You with hearts full of gratitude and hope. We know, Sir, who is the God who sees beyond appearances, who probes the heart and knows every detail of our lives.
As it is written in 1 Samuel 16:7, You do not look at outward appearance, but you observe the heart. And so, we too, cry out for You to see our hearts, Lord, and transform them according to Your will.
Just as you chose David, the humble shepherd, to be anointed king over Israel, we also beseech you to anoint us with Your blessing, oh God.
That even when others underestimate us, when we are judged by our appearance or our circumstances, we remember that it is You who calls us and empowers us.
May we always trust in You…
Knowing that you are the one who leads us towards the full and blessed life you have for us. Lord, as you chose Samuel to anoint the king, we see that you are a God who cares for his children with care. love and care.
Just as You guide Your people through the seasons of life, I ask that You continue to lead us with Your powerful hand. May each morning be blessed by Your presence, and may we see Your grace in each new dawn.
Just as Samuel was faithful to hear Your voice and obey Your will, help us to be sensitive to the Your Holy Spirit that lives within us. Give us the wisdom to discern Your voice amid the noise of this world, and the courage to follow Your ways, even when it seems difficult.
We remember, oh God, that Samuel was a man of prayer, interceding for the people of Israel in times of distress. May we too lift our voices in prayer, not only for ourselves, but for our families, friends and communities.
May our words be like incense before You, rising to the heavens and bringing Your gracious response.
Just as Samuel was a blessing to Israel, I ask that you also let us be blessings wherever we are. May our lives reflect Your glory and love, drawing others to You.
Empower us to be instruments of Your peace, hope and healing in this needy world. For all of this, we thank you, O God, and we trust in Your eternal love that sustains us every day. In the name of Jesus, amen.
I hope this moment with Jesus uplifted you and reminded you that God cares about you.

Who was Samuel?
Samuel, one of Israel's great prophets and judges, played a crucial role in the history of God's chosen people.
In the biblical context, Samuel is remembered for his dedication to God's service since childhood. He was chosen by God before he was even born, as revealed to his mother Ana, and was consecrated to the Lord from a young age.
He grew up under the care of the priest Eli, learning to listen and obey the voice of God amid the difficulties and challenges of the time of the judges in Israel.
One of Samuel's most significant contributions was his role in Israel's transition from a decentralized theocracy, led by judges, to a centralized monarchy under the leadership of God-anointed kings.
It was Samuel who anointed Saul as the first king of Israel…
In response to the people's cry for an earthly leader. However, when Saul turned away from God's will, Samuel was tasked with anointing David as the next king, thus establishing the Davidic dynasty.
The connection between Samuel, Jesus, and the disciples transcends the ages and is evident in the way Samuel served as a predecessor of Christ.
Just as Samuel was anointed by the Holy Spirit to carry out God's work in his generation, Jesus Christ was anointed by the Father as the promised Messiah, the one who would fulfill all prophecies and bring salvation to humanity.
Furthermore, Samuel's role as prophet and intercessor is echoed in Jesus' ministry and commission to the disciples.
Just as Samuel raised his voice in favor of the people of Israel, Jesus interceded for sinners, offering forgiveness and reconciliation with God.
Likewise, Jesus instructed his disciples to go into the world, preaching the Gospel and making disciples of all nations, following Samuel's example in proclaiming the Word of God and seeking the divine will.
So, as we contemplate the life and legacy of Samuel in the Bible, we are reminded not only of his historical importance, but also of his spiritual and prophetic relevance that resonates to this day.
May we learn from your faith, obedience and commitment to God, and may we be inspired to follow in your footsteps, always seeking the will of the heavenly Father in our own lives.
